The Rich Drive Pedal has been discovered in Houston Texas

Thursday, July 31, 2008

The Rich Drive Pedal has been discovered in
Houston, Texas USA !

Mr Craig Feazel of Houston Texas, guitar &
pedal-steel player with Katie Stuckey & also
'The Small Sounds' (see below) has recently
purchased the 'Rich Drive' pedal.

Please check out his very thorough review here:

Ivan,

Thanks for the pedal. After a week of 'test driving'
it, I am ready to give you my impressions. Let me
begin by saying the 'Rich Drive' is an exceptional
pedal. Extremely rugged, well-constructed and
beautiful sounding. My expectations were exceeded.
I initially tested it with a Gibson SG into my custom
built 'Airtight Garage' 2X12 valve amp. The 'Airtight
Garage' is my amp of choice currently, which is just
basically a modified hand-wired version of a Fender
DeLuxe Reverb amp.

The pedal was much more natural sounding than my
'Tube Screamer' and did not have that nasal and
harsh midrange which is all too common with the
TS9/TS808's. The overdrive was smooth and glassy,
never brittle. Very impressive. Further, there is
the perfect amount of boost at your disposal to
get your 'leads' out in front of the mix.

I next tried the pedal through the same amp,
but with a 'Telecaster'. Great sound. This pedal
is much more responsive with single coils when
using a Fender-style amp. I felt with the Telecaster
there was less tonal colouration, in that the
sound of the Telecaster remained true whether
the Rich Drive was engaged or not. When engaged,
the same tone was there but overdriven into a
useable overdrive that I found suitable not only
for leads, but when I backed off the volume on
the pedal, worked great to simulate a DeLuxe
Reverb maxed out.

Here is where things get better. At the Houston
Press Music Awards show, I used the Rich Drive
through a custom-shop, hand-wired Marshall
JTM45 Limited Edition. I will not try to capture
in words just how beautiful it sounded. But to
my ears, it was perfact, like as if you took
the best sounding 'Rangemaster' and blended
it with the perfect TS808. I will leave it at
that. I am a man of simple vocabulary and
limited skills of expression. I don't want to
do it an injustice. Thanks, great pedal !

Bob Spencer Update Winter 2008

Sunday, July 27, 2008

Bob Spencer Update: Winter 2008.

Bob has recently upgraded his FX pedal
set up with the acquisition of an FX
management device called the 'Switchblade
GL', which has resulted in some changes
to his favourite overdrive pedals.

Dear Sir.

I initially favoured the 'Rich Drive' over the
'Class-A Distortion' pedal. BUT, taking
advantage of the opportunity presented by
the Switchblade GL to immediately & simply
connect devices via dragging a mouse across a
screen has been very interesting & has changed
my opinion.

I am currently digging the 'Rich Blues' into
the 'Class-A'. It's a bit middier, hence more
Bob-like, than the 'Rich Drive', which is very
broad by comparison. Oddly, the guitar turned
down into the 'Rich Drive' has a lovely, sparkly
clean sound !

Over,

Bob.

the Land of the Rising Sun embraces the RICH DRIVE pedal !

Dear I van.
I am atsushi ikeda.
richdrive was received today. Very wonderful tone has moved.
Distortion was also alike and JMP has moved it. Thank you for
making a very wonderful pedal. In Japan, it advertizes for my
acquaintance. It is a wonderful pedal.

Rich Drive pedal is designed to retain the tonality and dynamics
of your guitar and amp combination at all but the most extreme
settings. The Rich Drive design features soft clipping, retains
the bottom-end, and is more touch-sensitive than most overdrive
pedals.

Because the Rich Drive pedal doesn't boost the midrange and
leaves the bass intact, it works especially well with "Tweed"
type amps as well as "British" voiced amps [eg JMP/AC30/AD30].

The Rich Drive pedal is compatible with both single coil and
humbucking pickups, and can be used as a booster to make other
pedals sound bigger, as well as a stand-alone overdriver.

Thirsty Merc

Thirsty Merc's extensive "Slideshows Album"
tour of Australia for 2007, visiting capital
cities and regional centres, included some
of our pedals;

Rai and Sean each use a "Class-A Distortion"
pedal, while Phil prefers the "Rich Drive" pedal;
Phil also purchased a custom-designd A/B/C
pedal to facilitate his live performances using
multiple bass instruments;

here are some comments the guys have sent
to us:-

Hey there,
Looking to purchase a Class A Distortion pedal ASAP,
I love the tone;

Bondi Intermusic 362 Oxford Street
normally keep a stock of the most popular models
they are tuned in to my stuff and have sold a lot
of pedals for me;

Thanks for that Ivan, am on my way to pick one up at bondi now.
I play in Thirsty Merc and Rai uses one - its just so fuckin creamy
and warm and big...you can turn it up loud and it doesn't sound
harsh, just amazing.
Congrats, keep up the good work;

Hey Ivan
Love the class A bro. Its just perfect for what I need it for.
Lead lines, driven but still ultra clean with lots
of sustain. Perfect;
